We’re Hiring a Director of Development!

Explore Children’s Museum seeks a strategic and relationship-driven Director of Development to lead all fundraising and donor engagement efforts that support the museum’s mission. This role is responsible for planning and implementing fundraising strategies, cultivating donor and partner relationships, managing campaigns and events, and ensuring the financial sustainability and growth of the organization.

The Director of Development oversees annual and major giving, sponsorships, grants, and special events; manages donor communications and stewardship; and builds a culture of philanthropy across staff, volunteers, and the Board of Directors. Working closely with the Executive Director and Board, this position will secure the resources needed to expand access, learning, and play for all children and families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute an annual fundraising plan aligned with organizational goals.

  • Cultivate and steward individual donors, corporate partners, and foundations.

  • Lead annual giving, major gifts, campaigns, sponsorships, grants, and special events.

  • Research, write, and manage grant proposals and reporting requirements.

  • Oversee donor communications, including newsletters, appeals, and acknowledgments.

  • Manage donor databases (CRM) and track revenue, campaign performance, and retention.

  • Support and collaborate with the Executive Director and Board on donor outreach.

  • Represent the museum at community and partnership events to build visibility.
