Important Update: Daily Admission Pricing & Payment Changes Effective January 1, 2026
Dear Friends of Explore,
As we look ahead to 2026, we want to share an important update regarding daily admission pricing and payment policies at Explore Children’s Museum. Transparency and trust are central to who we are, and we are grateful for the opportunity to explain these changes and the values behind them.
Daily Admission Price Update:
Beginning January 1, 2026, Daily Admission will increase to:
$9 per person (non-member)
$8 per senior (non-member)
Under 12 months is free
Our Daily Admission price has remained at $8 per person since we opened on January 1, 2022. During that time, the cost to operate the museum has steadily increased. Today, while we charge $8 per visitor, Explore Children’s Museum spends approximately $12 per visitor to provide a high-quality, safe, and engaging environment for children and families.
As a nonprofit organization created to fill a gap in early childhood learning opportunities, we are thoughtful and cautious about raising earned-income rates. Fully covering operating expenses through admission alone would place undue pressure on families and groups who rely on the museum to provide their little ones with access to the power of play.
To bridge this gap, Explore Children’s Museum maintains a robust fundraising strategy. Our staff and board work tirelessly to raise funds through grants, individual and business donations, and fundraising events—allowing us to keep admission as affordable as possible while sustaining our mission.
Credit Card Surcharge:
Also beginning January 1, 2026, a 3% surcharge will be applied to credit card purchases.
This surcharge will not apply to debit card or cash purchases.
What’s Staying the Same:
We are pleased to share that membership prices and birthday party pricing will remain the same throughout 2026.
Our Commitment to Access & Equity:
Explore Children’s Museum was developed - and remains fully committed - to the principle that early childhood education is critical for academic readiness and success, physical and mental health, and the development of children into adults prepared to meet future challenges.
We also recognize that even modest costs can be a barrier. To put our commitment to equity and accessibility into action, we continue our All Access Program, in conjunction with the Association of Children’s Museums’ Museums for All initiative.
The All Access Program:
Is available to any visitor, any time the museum is open
Provides discounted and/or free daily admission and memberships
Operates on the honor system, without requiring proof of income or eligibility
Offers admission passes and family memberships on a sliding scale based on reported need
Explore Children’s Museum is committed to being equitable, accessible, and welcoming to all families and caretakers of young children in our community.
Thank you for being part of the Explore Children’s Museum family. We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to provide meaningful experiences, inspire purposeful play, and promote lifelong learning for the incredible children and families we serve.
With gratitude,
Katey Kamoku, Executive Director
