Explore Children’s Museum Board of Directors Officer Roles:
President:
Oversee Board and Executive Committee meetings.
Work in partnership with the Executive Director to make sure board resolutions are carried out.
Call special meetings if necessary.
Appoint all committee chairs, and with the Executive Director, recommend who will serve on committees.
Assist Executive Director in preparing the agenda for the board meetings and conducting new Board Member orientation.
Coordinate the Executive Director’s annual performance evaluation.
Work to recruit new board members.
Act as an alternate spokesperson for the Museum.
Periodically consult with Board Members on their roles and help them assess their performance.
Secretary:
Attend board meetings and serve on the Executive Committee.
Understand the responsibilities of the President and perform these duties in the President’s absence.
Ensure the safety and accuracy of all Board records.
Review Board minutes.
Provide notice of meetings of the board and for committee when such notice is required.
Treasurer:
Attend board meetings and serve on the Executive Committee.
Understand financial accounting for non-profit organizations.
Serve as the Chair of the Finance Committee.
Along with the Finance Committee, manage the Board’s review and any actions related to the Board’s financial responsibilities.
Work with the Executive Director to ensure the appropriate financial reports are timely and available to the Board.
Present monthly financial reports and financial standing to the board at board meetings.
Present the annual budget to the Board for approval.
Review and present the annual audit to the Board for approval.
